Remploy factories in north-west England shut for last time
Five Remploy sites across north-west England have closed their doors for the final time.
Employees at factories in Birkenhead, Bolton, Preston, Wigan and Wythenshawe all finished work on Thursday, with a site in Oldham also set to close next week.
In total, 278 people have been affected by the closures in the region so far, with four other sites at risk.
More than 30 people were made redundant at Wigan Remploy. The factory had been open for nearly 50 years.
