Man 'critical' after being found unconscious in Wigan

A 55-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being found unconscious in a street in Wigan.

The man was found with serious head injuries on Frog Lane at 04:40 BST.

Police said he was last seen leaving Wiend Bar in the town centre at about 03:50 BST. Officers are appealing for witnesses.

He is described as white, 6ft tall with short grey hair. He was wearing a blue checked shirt with blue jeans, a black fleece and a black hat.

Det Con Deborah Pennington said: "We have a number of detectives investigating this incident who are working to establish what has happened to this man.

"We are keeping an open mind and are appealing to anyone who saw him last night or in the early hours of this morning to get in contact."
