Co-op video shows central Manchester's 'future skyline'

The Co-operative Group has released images showing how a major development could shape the Manchester skyline.

The group is running the £800m NOMA scheme, which aims to extend the city centre into the Northern Quarter.

The 20-acre site, based beside Victoria Station, is expected to contain a mix of retail and residential buildings.

The Co-op's new head office is due to be completed on the site by 2012, but the full development is expected to take 15 years.

An international architecture competition has also been announced, with designs being welcomed for different parts of the project.
