Man admits murder of Bury grandmother

A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of a 41-year-old grandmother from Bury, in Greater Manchester.

Gary Higgs, 44, of Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, admitted at Manchester Crown Court murdering Joanne Kitchen, a college security guard.

Ms Kitchen, who had two daughters and two grandchildren, was found stabbed and strangled at a house on Dumers Lane on 13 April.

Higgs is due to be sentenced on Tuesday.
