Police watchdog probe after man dies at Islington address

The police watchdog has begun an investigation after a man died following an incident involving police in north London.

The Metropolitan Police was called at about 01:30 BST to reports of a disturbance at an address in Trefil Walk, Islington.

Officers attended and found a man, believed to be in his 40s.

London Ambulance Service attended and the man was subsequently confirmed dead at the scene, Scotland Yard said.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said its investigators were "working at the scene and are attending the post-incident procedure at Islington Police station".

"The investigation is at an early stage and we will issue more information in due course," the IPCC said.

The man's next-of-kin have not yet been informed, the Met said.
