MPs call for ban on rogue landlords

27 June 2014 Last updated at 22:17 BST

A group of MPs and peers have called for an overhaul of the way the rental industry is run to provide better protection for families who do not own their own home.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Private Rented Sector also recommended nationwide bans for rogue landlords.

BBC London's Alex Bushill spoke to Hannah Williams, the founder of Rentalraters.com, Richard Lambert, from the National Landlords Association, and Alex Hilton, the director of Generation Rent.
