Since then three Conservative candidates have defected, while in nearby Barking & Dagenham, Labour have seen several defections, some to UKIP.

BBC London's Political Correspondent, Karl Mercer spoke to councillors Lawrence Webb for UKIP, Conservative Steven Kelly, councillor Clarence Barrett from Havering Residents' Group and Labour's Liam Smith in Barking and Dagenham.
