Bank of England security alert after car abandoned
A search is on for the driver of a car that was abandoned in suspicious circumstances outside the Bank of England.
The dumped vehicle sparked a security alert and staff were moved to "safe areas" within the building, the bank said.
City of London Police was alerted about the green Toyota at 11:00 BST, which was abandoned at Bank junction.
The area was cordoned off and Bank station was closed for about two hours.
A statement from the City of London Police said: "The vehicle, a green Toyota, has been removed from the road to be examined. Officers are looking in to all lines of inquiry and trying to locate the owner."
