A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after Barclays Bank's central London flagship branch was targeted on Monday morning.

Cash was taken from the bank in Regent Street, at Piccadilly Circus, with cash holders covered in red dye left scattered on the pavement outside.

Police said no-one was injured during the robbery.

Detectives from the Flying Squad arrested a man now in custody in a west London police station.

    South West Trains has some disruption from Waterloo to Guildford, Dorking and Hampton Court because of emergency repairs to a broken rail at Clapham Junction.

    Southern says signalling problem in the Selhurst/Norwood/West Croydon area is creating delays of around 45 minutes. It is also causing minor delays for London Overground between Sydenham and West Croydon.

    AirAsia boss and QPR owner Tony Fernandes says he is "devastated" that a plane carrying 162 people from Indonesia to Singapore has gone missing.

    Flight QZ8501, an Airbus A320-200, disappeared over the Java Sea an hour into its flight at 06:24 local time (23:24 GMT Saturday).

    Mr Fernandes, flew to Surabaya and told a press briefing: "Our concern right now is for the relatives and for the next of kin - there is nothing more important to us, for our crew's family, and for the passengers' families."

    A man in his late 50s has died after being stabbed in a street in Ilford in east London.

    He was found in Richmond Road after officers were called to reports of an assault at about 03:30 on Sunday

    A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and later re-arrested on suspicion of murder.
