A man has been jailed for seven and a half years for shooting a man at a child's birthday party.

Alfie Gannon, 21, from Ashford in Kent, previously pleaded guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on 14 April.

The shooting happened at a 10-year-old's birthday party in Bromley, south-east London on 18 May 2013.

Gannon became involved in an argument with family members at the party and was asked to leave.

He returned later and shot the 31-year-old victim in the leg in front of his seven-year-old stepson, the police said.

Following an appeal by officers, Gannon was arrested.
