1 May 2014 Last updated at 20:42 BST

Well known as one of the faces of Britpop, Blur's Damon Albarn is now going it alone with his first solo album.

Everyday Robots revisits some of the east London haunts of his childhood, and on Wednesday night he played one of just two sold-out gigs in London at the Riverlee ballroom in Lewisham.

In this extended interview, he talks to BBC London's Brenda Emmanus about growing up in Leytonstone, his family life and his solo album.
