Chelsea Pensioners move into new home

3 April 2014 Last updated at 17:20 BST

Chelsea Pensioners are facing one of the biggest changes for more than 300 years as their home, the Royal Hospital Chelsea - which was founded for soldiers by King Charles II - has had a major refurbishment.

The Grade I listed building was previously described as being "completely claustrophobic".

Pensioner Michael Allen describes why the rooms are set up the way they are while Maj Gen Peter Curry, the lieutenant governor for the hospital, explains why the pensioners deserve to be looked after.
