A cyclist has been killed in a collision with a lorry in the City of London.

It happened at Ludgate Circus at about 10:00 BST. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the London Ambulance Service said.

The cyclist is the third to die on London's roads in 2014. Fourteen cyclists were killed last year.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area as a number of roads have been closed. No arrests have been made.

London Assembly Green Party member Darren Johnson said London Mayor Boris Johnson had to show "some leadership and take responsibility for getting London's road network fit for cycling".

The mayor's cycling commissioner Andrew Gilligan said the junction would eventually become "fully-segregated" on the new "superhighways".
