Mehmet Hassan murder: Seven arrested over father's death

Seven people have been arrested after a father of three was found dead at a house in north London.

Mehmet Hassan, 56, was found at a house in Baxter Road, Islington, on Monday evening. Post-mortem tests showed he died of neck and chest injuries.

Seven people were arrested on Friday. Five men and a woman are being held on suspicion of murder and an 18-year-old man is being held on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

They all remain in police custody.

Forced entry

Met Police said Mr Hassan's relatives contacted them on Monday expressing concern about him.

Officers forced entry into the property and Mr Hassan was found dead at the scene.

Det Ch Insp Andy Partridge said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who has seen any activity in and around this address to make contact with my officers.

"In particular I would like help from the public who can assist with the movements of the victim between 19.30 GMT on Sunday and shortly before police found the victim on Monday."
