A man has been stabbed to death in the neck on an east London high street.

Mohammed Yasser Afzal, 22, from Forest Gate, was attacked outside a cab office at about 20:00 GMT on Monday on Broadway in Stratford.

He was taken to hospital where he later died. Detectives are treating his death as murder.

Officers want to question a man seen entering the E20 Cars office with a JD Sports bag and wearing a deerstalker hat shortly before the stabbing.

Det Ch Insp John Sandlin said: "At this early stage in our investigation I wish to identify a man who was seen outside E20 Cars between approximately 19:45 and 20:00 GMT.

"We understand this man entered the premises briefly before leaving and running towards Chant Street," he said.

"We know the man was carrying a JD Sports drawstring plastic bag and was wearing a distinctive deer stalker type hat which had flaps covering his ears."
