A man has been convicted of the murder of a 42-year-old who was found stabbed to death at a hostel in London.

Mehretab Zemicael, 39, attacked Gary Brisco at a hostel in Code Street, Whitechapel, on 21 June last year.

Mr Brisco suffered multiple knife wounds, including serious stab injuries to his neck.

A manhunt was launched the next day for the Eritrean national who was traced by police and arrested on 9 July having slept rough since fleeing the hostel.

After a trial at the Old Bailey, Zemicael was found guilty of murder and will be sentenced on 6 March.
