Man's body found in Leyton sports pavilion after fire

The body of a man was found after a blaze at a derelict building in east London.

The man's body was found in the disused sports pavilion, on Villiers Close, off Church Road, Leyton, when fire crews were called there just before midnight.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said firefighters found a man inside the building. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

Met Police said the identity of the man was was yet to be established.

The blaze was tackled by about 20 firefighters and was brought under control just before 02:00 GMT. Police and fire investigation officers were still at the scene during the morning.
