Man charged over MP Stella Creasy tweets

A man has been charged over offensive messages sent on Twitter to an MP.

Stella Creasy, Labour MP for Walthamstow, was targeted, along with campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez, after she took part in efforts to ensure a woman featured on British banknotes.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Peter Nunn, 32, from Emersons Green, Bristol, was charged with sending malicious communications.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 6 February.

Baljit Ubhey, the chief crown prosecutor for CPS London, said: "This case was reviewed in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and guidelines issued by the director of public prosecutions on prosecuting cases involving communications sent via social media."
