Woman's body found in Regent's Canal in Camden

A body has been found in Regent's Canal in north London.

Police were called shortly after 08:20 GMT after a body was seen in the canal near Royal College Street in Camden.

Officers removed the body from the water and London Ambulance pronounced the person dead at the scene.

It is believed to be a the body of a female. Officers have not said if they are treating the death as suspicious.

    A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman in a street in Ilford.

    The Met said the 43-year-old will appear at North East Barkinside Magistrates Court later charged with threatening a person with a bladed article and possession of a bladed article after an attack on Ilford Lane.

    08:47: Manhunt for double murder suspect

    A manhunt is under way after a man and woman in their 50s were found stabbed to death in a house in Fetcham, near Leatherhead.

    Surrey Police are trying to trace Viktoras Bruzas who they said was now likely to be in Sussex although he also had links to south-east London. Another man in his 30s has been arrested in Walton-on-Thames on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

    One of London's top anti-terror officers is warning that some extremists are using welfare payments and student loans to bankroll terrorism in Syria and across the world.

    The Telegraph reports that the Met's Assistant Commander Terri Nicholson believes women who are not known to the police are also being used to smuggle money out of the country.

    Scotland Yard has said a demonstration at the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square, which turned into an impromptu march to Westminster, passed off peacefully last night.

    A fire on an engineering train at Epsom has closed all lines affecting South West Trains and Southern services which are diverting.

    First Great Western are delayed in and out of Paddington following a signal failure at Reading and Southeastern Services between London Bridge and Charlton via Greenwich are not running following a signal failure.
