Boy to have ears made from his own ribs

7 August 2013 Last updated at 14:29 BST

An eight-year-old boy who was born without any ears is going to have some specially made for him - from his own ribs.

Specialist surgeons at Great Ormond Street Hospital will use cartilage taken from Kieran Sorkin's ribs to create his new ears.

Kieran, from Hertfordshire, says he wants new ears so that people would stop asking him why he has not got any, while his mother Louise says she was traumatised when she found out he did not have any ears.
