A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in a suitcase in a sports ground in north-west London.
The body was found after police searched a wooded area in Thornfield Avenue, Mill Hill, on Sunday afternoon.
The body is that of a Hungarian national aged in her 20s, but she is yet to be formally named. Results of a post-mortem examination are awaited.
A cordon remains in place in the area where the body was found.
Det Ch Insp Nicola Wall, from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said the force urgently required the assistance of the public to help them establish what happened.
"We are specifically appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious towards the latter part of last week," she said.
"Did you see anyone moving a heavy black trolley type suitcase on or after the 18 July, especially around the Thornfield Avenue/Dollis Road entrance of the wooden area?
"We are also interested in hearing from anyone who is concerned about any young adult females who have gone missing from the immediate area recently."
Det Ch Supt Adrian Usher, borough commander for Barnet said officers had increased foot and vehicle patrols in the area where the body was found.
"The discovery of the body of a young woman on Sunday 21 July hidden in a suitcase is a tragic and shocking thing to happen, I am sure local people will be feeling unsettled by this news," he added.
