Man murdered in East Ham died of head injuries
A 68-year-old man murdered in east London died of head injuries, police have confirmed.
The victim was found at 19:30 BST at a home in East Ham on Thursday. Emergency services attended but he died at the scene.
A man, aged 27, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to an east London police station.
He has now been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and taken to a secure psychiatric facility.
The post-mortem examination took place on Friday at East Ham mortuary and confirmed cause of death as head and neck injuries.
The victim's next of kin are aware of his death but he is yet to be formally identified.
