A man who ran over and killed a woman waiting at a bus stop in south London has been jailed.

Veronica Vanessa Chango-Alverez, 31, died and a man was injured when the Audi driven by Nathan Davies struck them on 22 December in Croydon.

Davies, 28, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to five years and four months for causing death by dangerous driving.

He will serve a concurrent sentence for inflicting grievous bodily harm.

A spokesman said Davis was also disqualified from driving for six years and must pass an extended driving test when his ban ends.

The car was abandoned after the early-morning crash in Streatham High Road.

Ms Chango-Alverez had been on her way to work in a hotel when she was killed.
