Plans to redevelop Bond Street Station as part of the £15bn Crossrail project have been submitted to Westminster council.

Six floors of office space are proposed above the station's western ticket hall.

Crossrail will connect 37 stations from Heathrow Airport and Maidenhead in the west, through central London and out to Abbey Wood and Shenfield in the east.

It is due to be completed in 2018.

Crossrail said the arrival of its services in five years would see passenger numbers at Bond Street Station rise from 155,000 to 225,000 a day.

It said there would be 24 trains per hour in each direction at peak times.

Work on Crossrail's 26 miles (42km) of tunnels began last March.
