Jessie J event stabbing: Murderer requests appeal
A man jailed for murdering a father-of-two with a bottle at an event where singer Jessie J was performing wants to appeal his conviction and sentence.
Ashley Charles, 26, slashed the neck of Phillip Sherriff, 37, at south London nightclub Pulse on 4 April last year.
Mr Sherriff, from Preston, Lancashire, died four days later.
Charles, from Leicester, was given a life sentence and told he would serve a minimum of 14 years. The graphic designer had denied murder.
He lodged leave to appeal his conviction and sentence on 17 December, a spokesman for the Royal Courts of Justice confirmed.
A judge will now decide whether or not to grant permission for an appeal.
Mr Sherriff had travelled to London with colleagues for the promotion event in Southwark organised by mobile phone company Blackberry, for which he worked.
