Charing Cross Road bus crash: Three pedestrians injured

Two women are critically ill in hospital after being hit by a bus in central London.

An 11-year-old boy also suffered minor injuries in the accident near Cambridge Circus in Charing Cross Road.

Police said they were called at about 14:45 GMT to reports of three people being hit by a number 29 bus.

Both women, one aged 18 and the other in her 40s, are said to be in a life-threatening condition. The road has been closed in both directions.

London Ambulance Service sent the air ambulance, four ambulances, two motorcycle units and two cycle units to the scene.

The injured were all taken to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington.
