Man in court over Holloway Road police sword attack

A man has appeared in court accused of trying to kill a policeman and a woman with a samurai sword on Christmas Eve.

Ahla Timofei, of Frampton Street, Marylebone, appeared before Highbury Corner magistrates on Boxing Day on two charges of attempted murder.

A 22-year-old Italian woman suffered wounds to her legs, arms and face in Holloway Road, north London, on 24 December.

Mr Timofei, 25, is due to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on 10 January.
