Richmond in row over plans for two Catholic schools

Plans to create two new Catholic schools in Richmond, south-west London, are being challenged in the High Court.

The schools, one secondary and one primary, would be allowed to prioritise Catholic children.

Campaigners say the legal procedure to approve the schools were not followed, an allegation the Richmond Council denies.

The council says a democratic decision was taken to approve the schools.
