A woman was hurt when she was knocked off her bicycle by an explosion under a manhole cover in west London, apparently caused by an electrical problem.

She was taken to hospital following the incident in Shepherd's Bush, but her injuries are not thought to be serious.

The emergency services were called and the area remains cordoned off.

A spokeswoman for London fire Brigade said an electricity supply company had been called to fix the problem.
