Squatters reopen Friern Barnet library

Help

The doors of a north London library have been reopened by squatters running a book-lending service.

Friern Barnet library has been closed because of council budget cuts but squatters have vowed to fight moves to evict them.

Occupy London, which is is staying on site, said it received an eviction notice on Thursday morning.

Barnet Council, which closed the library in April, said it was important that public assets were protected.

Yvonne Hall spoke to Pete Phoenix, from the Re-open Friern Barnet Library Group, and Conservative councillor Richard Cornelius.
