Met Police officer Richard Bent is charged with theft

A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with theft.

Richard Bent, who is England footballer Darren Bent's cousin, is accused of two counts of theft. Both are alleged to have been committed on 13 July.

The Westminster-based officer was arrested in August after property belonging to Scotland Yard went missing.

The 28-year-old officer is due at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 19 September.
