Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to following attacks on two women in west London.

The women, aged 19 and 26, were slashed by a bladed item within 10 days of each other late at night in Hounslow.

The teenager was cut across the neck on 7 August in Hanworth Road while the second victim was cut across her face in Whitton Road on Friday.

The suspect has been described as a light-skinned black man, aged between 18 and 25 years.

He is believed to be 5ft 6in to 5ft 11in tall.

'Unprovoked attacks'

No arrests have been made as yet over the attacks, which the police believe are linked because of the "similar nature of the attacks".

Both the victims were alone late at night at the time of the attack and both were approached from behind.

Det Ch Insp Amanda Hargreaves, from Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "These were completely unprovoked attacks and I would appeal to anyone who recognises the suspect, was in the area, has been followed in the last few weeks or who has noticed a man fitting the description acting suspiciously to please come forward."

Officers also appealed for the cyclist who helped the victim in Hanworth Road to come forward as he might have information which could help the investigation.
