The body of Carole Waugh was found with a stab wound
A 47-year-old has appeared in court to be accused of defrauding dead oil executive Carole Waugh.
Miss Waugh's body was found in a lock-up garage in New Malden, south-west London on Thursday.
Nicholas David Kutner appeared at Camberwell Magistrates Court via videolink from Sutton Police Station in south London.
He is accused of fraudulently attempting to let Miss Waugh's flat by pretending to be her brother.
Mr Kutner spoke only to confirm his name, age and when asked his address.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 13 August.
Mr Kutner was arrested as he arrived in the UK on an international flight at Luton Airport last Tuesday.
Miss Waugh, 50, disappeared on 16 April.
Police say hundreds of thousands of pounds had been stolen from her, with 10 people now arrested over the case.
