The man behind London's Olympic cauldron


The lighting of the cauldron is always one of the key moments of any Olympic opening ceremony.

The daunting task of reinventing what an Olympic cauldron should look like fell to celebrated London designer Thomas Heatherwick, who has a studio in King's Cross.

He talks to BBC London's Brenda Emmanus about the inspiration for his design and the technical challenges it posed.
