Three men charged over cycle ride near Olympic Park

Three men have been charged in connection with a cycle ride near the Olympic Park in east London.

Police arrested 182 people who took part in the ride on Friday night, the day of the opening ceremony.

Pedro Lima, 35, of Brentford, was charged with causing a public nuisance.

Andrew Bayne, 51, of Hackney, was charged with assaulting a constable and Dario Malaterra, 34, was charged with possession of a knife blade or a sharp pointed article in a public place.

Both Mr Lima, a Portuguese national who is a media employee, and Mr Malaterra, an unemployed Italian national of no fixed address, were charged with failing to comply with conditions under the Public Order Act.

Mr Malaterra was also charged with causing a public nuisance.
