MPs say Games Lane bike ban sends 'the wrong message'

Help

A group of MPs has said cyclists should be able to use the Olympic lanes dedicated for officials and athletes.

An early day Commons motion by MPs said banning cyclists from Games Lanes would increase congestion.

Tom Brake, Liberal Democrat MP for Carshalton and Wallington, said it "sends out exactly the wrong message" when cycling should be promoted.

A small number of the lanes, nearest the kerb, will be used by cyclists, however.
