Jessie J event stabbing: Man denies murder

A man is to stand trial at the Old Bailey accused of killing a guest at an event involving singer Jessie J.

Ashley Charles, 25, of Nevanthon Road, Leicester, pleaded not guilty to murdering Phillip Sherriff, 37.

Charles, who appeared by video link, was remanded in custody and will go on trial on 29 October.

Mr Sherriff, a telecommunications worker from Preston, Lancashire, died on 8 April.

He had been in hospital for four days after being attacked with a bottle at the Pulse nightclub in Southwark, central London.

Jessie J had earlier performed at the event, which was thrown by smartphone company BlackBerry.
