Teen denies killing boy, three, at Old Bailey hearing

A teenager has appeared by videolink at the Old Bailey to deny killing a three-year-old boy.

Rhys Lawrie was allegedly physically abused at his home in Erith, on the south London/Kent borders, before he died.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey to murder.

He also denied causing actual bodily harm to the child in December 2010 and January 2011.

The teenager also pleaded not guilty to a fourth charge of grievous bodily harm on the day Rhys died.

He was remanded in custody with a trial due to begin on 26 September.
