Catford shooting victim dies in hospital

A man has died in hospital after he was shot in south-east London, the Metropolitan Police have said.

Gunshots were reported at 21:15 BST on Saturday and officers went to Lushington Road in Catford where they found the injured man.

The 23-year-old victim, who the Met said had suffered bullet wounds, was taken to hospital where he died on Sunday afternoon.

A man was arrested over the shooting and remains in police custody.

There were several police officers in the area on Sunday and a cordon was in place close to where the shot man was found.

The victim died in Kings College Hospital at 14:15 BST. Officers have informed the victim's next of kin but are yet to release his identity.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place.
