Bow homes evacuated after gas leak

Up to 150 people were evacuated from their homes in east London after a gas leak, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

The brigade was called to Bruce Road in Bow at about 10:30 BST to reports of a ruptured gas main.

The four-inch gas main was found to be fractured and people living close to the pipeline were asked to leave their homes.

Residents were allowed back in after the pipe was repaired just before noon, LFB said.
