NHS London is to cut student numbers in 'quality drive'

NHS London has said it is aiming for a tougher recruitment process after complaints from senior nurses that some students have poor literacy, numeracy and attitudes towards patient care.

Applicants will need to show more compassion and commitment to caring for patients.

But the move has drawn criticism by those who say it is "cost-cutting" in disguise.
