Flowers at crash scene Mingwei Tan was found lying in Haverstock Hill

A man has been charged over the death of a medical student who was found lying injured in a road after being hit by a vehicle in north London.

Mingwei Tan, 20, was dragged for a mile under a vehicle that hit her near Belsize Park Tube station in September.

At the time, police said the Cambridge University student was hit by a bus.

Shahriar Firouzian, 51, of Harrow Way, Watford, is due before magistrates later this month charged with causing death by careless driving.

Ms Tan, who was from Singapore, was living in north London at the time of the accident.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.

Mr Firouzian, who is unemployed, is due to appear before Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on 25 August.
