Hunt for missing kayaker on River Thames near Richmond

A kayaker has gone missing on the River Thames in south-west London, the coastguard has said.

Lifeguards are searching for the man, who disappeared between Richmond and Glover Island at about 12:30 BST.

Three lifeboats and a police helicopter are involved in the hunt after an upturned boat was spotted by the crew of a ferry.

The man was not wearing a buoyancy aid, said Bob Forbes, the watch manager at London Coastguard.
