Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are to hold a full investigation into the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

It runs Queen's Hospital in Romford where five women died at the same maternity unit in 18 months.

Last week Barking MP Margaret Hodge called for an independent inquiry into the east London maternity unit saying the mortality rate at the hospital was five times the London average.
