Is your Tube commute too hot to handle?
More passengers and more trains mean the Underground is getting hotter
Here's my film on the new Victoria line trains which, instead of cooling down passengers, are at the moment making the Tube hotter.
A number of passengers have complained to me about the wafts of heat being generated by the new trains.
According to London Underground this is a "transition" problem due to the fact regenerative braking can't be turned on yet.
It will be turned on in the next few weeks and then hopefully the temperature will drop (slightly).
But long-term heat on the Tube, especially on the deep-level lines, is a real issue. Tell me about your experiences.

The victoria line gets increasingly hot by the day, the old trains are now all gone and the situation has not improved. As a regular traveller on the line i see daily, people fainting and passing out from the heat bellowing out from these trains. This is causing considerable delays. That on top of the fact that the trains continue to have issues with doors is not helping the situation.

Rather than reducing heat LU seems to be adding to it. Digital advertising is growing fast on the deep tubes replacing the old bill boards. These are both panel and projector based, both of which generate reasonable heat and no doubt reasonable income too! The older paper advertsing generated no heat. A small addition to the heat on he tubes maybe but an addition none the less!

Regenerative brakes can work on dc, and have done since the 1930s. Indeed the entire Underground works on dc, as do the lines on which classes 377, 378, 444, 450 (referred to in the earlier post) operate. The Victoria Line can't yet use the regen capability of the 09 trains becuase the old '67 trains are incompatible with it.
(By the way, why do so many people mis-spell the word "brake")

I would like to know how TFL think it is acceptable to install huge video projectors on the platforms, and banks of LCD screens alongside the escalators. They must contribute significantly to the heat and our discomfort, all for a small increase in their advertising revenue.

tfl can say the regenerative breaks aint active on the new 90st train which in fact they are already active u cant regenerate and put back power that is on a direct current line (DC) it will short out or blow up the transformers that convert power from (AC) to (DC) so this new electricity is used to power the train lights and recharge the batteries think of magnets u cant put S and S it dontwork
