1,000mph Bloodhound Super Sonic car project is unveiled

Help

A prototype of a car that it is hoped will reach a speed of 1,000mph has been unveiled to the public in Horse Guards Parade.

Known as Bloodhound, the vehicle is powered by a rocket bolted to a Eurofighter-Typhoon jet engine.

Although the building process will last throughout 2011, plans for the project have gone online.

The hope is that Bloodhound can inspire the next generation of engineers as well as break the world land speed record.
