UK's largest artwork on the rise for 2012 Olympic Games
Work on the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture in the 2012 Olympic Park - which will be the largest artwork of its kind in Britain - began on 5 November 2010.
Situated between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre, it will give visitors a view of the entire Olympic Park and across London's skyline.
Visitors will be able to take a trip up the structure in a lift and will have the option of walking down the spiralling staircase.
It was designed by award-winning artist Anish Kapoor and is expected to be completed by March 2012.
Here is timelapse video footage showing its construction so far.
