Big steps for Tiny the London Zoo gorilla

Help

Zookeepers at London Zoo have captured the first moment when three-month-old Tiny left his mother's side to explore his Gorilla Kingdom home.

Gorilla keeper Daniel Simmonds said: "All of Tiny's keepers were there to see and to photograph his first steps, it was a very special moment for all of us here in Gorilla Kingdom."

The Western lowland gorilla was born in October 2010 and has been nicknamed Tiny until keepers decide on a permanent name.

Western lowland gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) are classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
