London City Airport in top 10 of best runway approaches

London City Airport came seventh in the top 10 list

London City Airport has featured in a top 10 list for having one of the most scenic runway approaches in the world.

The airport was one of only two UK stops featured in the list of best airport approaches.

London City Airport came seventh in the list and was said to have a "highly scenic approach over world-famous London landmarks."

The other UK entry in the top 10 was Barra Airport in the Outer Hebrides, where planes land on the beach.

Private jet booking company PrivateFly.com, which compiled the list, said London City Airport provided "amazing views" of the 02 arena in Greenwich and the steep approach made for a "fairground ride-like buzz."

At Barra, "visitors and cockle-pickers share the use of the beach," the company added.

Sion Airport, in Switzerland, topped the list for having the most inspirational approach.
