London Mayor criticises 'pointless Tube strike'
London Mayor Boris Johnson has said the Tube strike is "pointless and politically motivated".
Tube passengers have been advised by officials to find an alternative way of getting home in London as the first in a series of strikes begins.
They are unhappy about plans to scrap 800 jobs in ticket offices and say station security could be at risk.
